Non-verbal Communication
Nonverbal autism is a form of autism that is characterized by a lack of or limited use of verbal communication. This can include difficulty using words to express needs or desires, speaking in single words or short phrases, and difficulty understanding language.
Speech Language Delays
A language delay is when a child has difficulties understanding and/or using spoken language. These difficulties are unusual for the child’s age. The difficulties might be with: responding to language. understanding words or sentences
Speech Sound Disorders
Speech refers to talking and the ability to form sounds and words properly. Children with a speech delay may use words, but you have a hard time understanding them. They could also struggle to speak because they have a hard time forming words.
Literacy Skills (Phonics)
The main Literacy skills are reading, writing, speaking and listening. These are core competencies that children need to grasp and build upon throughout their education. They include such things as awareness of the sounds of language, awareness of print, and the relationship between letters and sounds.

Booking Process
- Enquiry: To start your journey, reach out to us through our contact page or email us at info@thetalklab.com.au. Share your concerns, and our caring team will connect with you.
- Contact: Our helpful team will contact you with 2 business days to we’ll take the time to understand your worries in detail, discuss how we can assist, and determine if our services align with your needs and those of your child
- Booking therapy: Our team will guide you through the booking process, ensuring availability and accommodating any specific requests or scheduling preferences.
- Initial Assessment appointment: The assessment, conducted one-on-one in the child’s natural environment, lasts 60-120 minutes, split across sessions if needed, and includes a comprehensive case history review and planned screening tasks or standardised assessments with a speech therapist.
- Commencing Your Therapy Journey: Based on the assessment, tailored therapy sessions (45-60 minutes) are offered, with home practice activities and a positive, family-centered approach encouraging family involvement.
- Providing Comprehensive Report: Following the assessment and therapy sessions, you’ll receive a detailed report including background history, current skill levels, age group comparisons, and recommendations for further therapy, referrals, or professional collaboration.

Social Communication
Social communication disorder (SCD) is characterized by persistent difficulties with the use of verbal and nonverbal language for social purposes. Primary difficulties may be in social interaction, social understanding, pragmatics, language processing, or any combination of the above (Adams, 2005).
SCD can result in a wide array of problems, including difficulty participating in social settings, developing peer and/or romantic relationships, achieving academic success, and performing successfully on the job.
